Brief

I am going to be making a music video for The kooks song "naive". This song falls into the music genre of indie music. In later posts i will be covering and going into further depth about indie music so as to give a better idea of whether our music video meets the conventions of indie music or even possibly challenges them.
The general conventions of indie music are:

1. It is aimed at students or people around the age of late teens, target audience are male and secondary audience female.

2. They always use instruments, most notably acoustic guitar is a quintessential element of indie music. It is also recognised as having a fast tempo and a "feel good aura"

3. Indie music is independent from a label so the listeners of indie music feel that they are music "realists" and that the bands are doing their music for the love of music. However Indie often becomes popular with certain sterotypes of people (as previously mentioned students" and then becomes commercialised "indie pop" and enters the mainstream. This is ironic as this is what indie music is trying to get away from.

4. Use of extreme close ups are prominent within music videos of indie music.
